Calvin and Hobbes
Calvin and Hobbes personifies the relationship with my mom. When designing these pants, that’s the weight it held. My mom used to tuck me in and read the silly comic strips, stick out her tongue and make whacky faces, and then make even whackier scary monster noises when Spaceman Spiff would hurdle himself into the teachers lounge. I didn’t understand how much these stories meant to me until I found a copy of one of the books at a value village and all the nostalgia rushed over me.
I toyed with many designs from the wonderful collection of comic strips from Bill Watterson, but his wonderful illustration of Calvin and Hobbes dancing is how I feel when I think of my mom.
These pants are now in the proud ownership of momma James.
